31 Days of Discipline is over

It's the 31 of July. The project named '31 days of Discipline' is over :(.
It all started from a message from my friend Johan, who wanted to add some pieces to his portfolio by completing a design project every day for a whole month. I loved the idea. Knowing that another person is working toward the same goal always gives extra motivation to complete the challenge.
So, the idea was to create one project per day for a whole month of July.  We invited friends, schoolmates and friends of friends to join us, and '31 days of Discipline' community was created on Facebook to showcase our work.
I have to admit, it was hard for me to produce one good piece per day :). Life always was getting in my way of creativity. I planned on doing both 50/50 photography and design, but ended up doing only 1 design project. Oh well, more for photography, right?
Most importantly, this project taught me how to manage my time. It also inspired and challenged me. It allowed me to hear feedback from the people I never met in life. It broadened my portfolio. And it made my life busy and interesting for a whole month.
I'd like to thank everybody who participated in this event  and those who just followed our creations.
Here are some of my favorite pieces from that project:

This event was definitely a light in my life.
Let's continue pursing our passion, developing our creativity, and inspiring each other.

The dress

Once I saw this dress, I knew that this is THE one. I loved it from the first sight. I didn't get a chance to take photograph of me wearing it on Kaitlin's wedding. So, here we go. And, buy the way, those shoes are from Kohl's.

Kaitlin & Jesse's BIG DAY!

My sister and I went to the best wedding ever past Saturday!
Let me start from the very beginning.
Kaitlin Birch, now Mrs. Wilkes, was my first American roommate, and the best one (sorry, Andrew, I just tolerate you as a roomie, you know LOL). I spent my first Christmas in America with Kaitlin's amazing family... Now, that is a totally different story.
Anyway, yesterday my sister Vera and I went to Kaitlin and Jesse's wedding. It took us about three hours to get ready. I know it's all Vera's fault, she IS slow :).
We got to the church on time, surprise again! The bride looked absolutely stunning: her hair, her dress, her jewelry, and, most important, her smile. Kaitlin was lighting up from inside. It was truly her day. I haven't seen her happier than that day.
We sat next to a really nice guy Steve, who, very kindly, gave us the directions to the reception afterwards, and we were supposed to follow his car. We were supposed to, and we never did. Why? Because instead I decided to follow another car, thinking that everybody after the church ceremony will go straight to the Country Club where the reception was held. Right! It did look a little weird that we turned left, instead of turning right like Steve said... Next we knew was that we were pulling into a Subway shop!!!!!!! My sis: "Hold on, wait, where is the Country Club?" "Not here for sure". We could not stop laughing! Why do we always make our lives so much more difficult? A GPS saved us again... How did people live without it? Were they always lost? Did they miss all the events? I would.
When we arrived at the reception, there were not enough seats at a table assigned to us. What did we do? Just sat at a different table! I have to admit, it was awkward when people from this table arrived and saw us taking their seats. Oops! We had to move back to our assigned table...And then all the fun started. The people at our table were hysterical :) We talked, we laughed, we danced, we drank... We just had a fantastic time.
Thank you so much, Kaitlin & Jesse for your great friends and family. It was a day to remember!
P.S. I really really hope that the next wedding I will attend as a photographer. I believe in it.
my beautiful sister Vera

My flash and my shaking hands :) created this artistic effect, which I really like!
I wish I took more photographs, especially of the people sitting at out table. We have to meet again guys, right? ;)

my adorable niece Anastasia

Guess, what's her favorite time of the day? Playground time, of course :). Sometimes she says that she does not want to go to daycare, but she'd rather spend all day playing in the playground. So simple :)

Living Doll fashion photo shoot

Yesterday I did an amazing photo shoot with a theme "Living Doll". Here are just a few pictures that I took inside the studio, there are much more to come. This concept always intrigued me. A blank faced, nearly inanimate model, static, "frozen in time" doll lives her life.
That was the first time I worked with MUA Dorinda and Eboni Morales. They did such a good job. And of course my model, Colleen, was fantastic.
